Can this lamp be hard wired instead of plug in?

BEST ANSWER: Hi – these are designed and best used as a plug-in wall lamp. But you may consult a qualified electrician on your conversion to hard-wire.
looking .for a lampwith a heavy base and a 7ft. rod and the lamp on the end ?
Robert D on Sep 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No rod (for the cord?) included with this wall lamp. Additionally, the shade is quite heavy, making it necessary to adjust the mounting bracket accordingly so the weight of the shade does not pull the swing arm out of level. Hope this helps.

Horrible to install!
This is a beautiful lamp, but is quite heavy, though apparently intended to be hung on drywall. Unfortunately, the mounting hardware and provided instructions are inadequate.

First of all, the anchors provided are mismatched for the weight of the lamp. Behind my beautiful new lamp base is a honeycomb of holes drilled during this anchoring process. Get your own anchors!!

Second, the screws extending out of the wall plate are too long. After conversing with customer service, you have to drill two MORE holes to accommodate the heads of these screws.

Third, one mounting screw MUST go in a round hole on the wall plate (versus a slot) so that the wall plate and lamp doesn't rotate once the shade is put on.

Lastly, the instructions did not provide these steps, which were absolutely REQUIRED to hang this heavy lamp. They had to be self-discovered in a process that turned a 15-minute installation into a much longer affair.

I also agree with other reviews that the placement of the on/off dial is in a poor position.

I love the lamp but felt that adequate hardware and instructions could have made installation MUCH MUCH easier. And now I see it is on SALE with free shipping makes me even more frustrated with my experience!!!!

Pros: Attractive Design

Cons: Hard To Install, Inferior hardware, POOR INSTRUCTIONS

beautiful lamp - inconvenient switch
In an otherwise wonderful product, there is one glaring flaw: the designers placed the switch on the wall, not close to the light. I read in bed every night - so now, when I am soooo sleepy instead of just reaching up and turning off the light, I must get OUT OF BED to do it. What a pain. The dimmer is great, but it's not a full dimmer as claimed - it's either "dim" or full illumination - nothing in between. But this is one gorgeous light...

Pros: Easy To Change Bulb, Quality Construction, Attractive Design, Easy To Install

Pretty, but atrocious quality
My husband runs a large home renovations firm (, so we see our fair share of electrical materials. While these are plug n play type lights, the mountain hardware provided is flimsy relative to the weight of the lamps. This causes the weight of the lamp to bend the hardware and away from the wall. The screws provided are too long for the box, and require modification otherwise the caps won't fit. So - while I find them pretty, the overall quality is poor and will require modification to ensure they last.

Pros: Attractive Design, Diffused Light, Heavy glass shades

Cons: Hard To Install, Tough To Assemble, Too heavy for hardware

Much prettier than in photo. Love it!
We ordered two of these for our bedroom and love them. I have a number of Tiffany lamps around the house, and love not only how attractive they are, but also how easy it is to keep glass lampshades clean. (Fabric shades get dusty and dingy so easily.) Our room is painted a warm red, and these lamps look great against the deep color. The dimmer makes these perfect for bedtime. It's bright enough for knitting and reading, but fully adjustable. The swing-arm mechanism is heavy-duty and holds its position well. We ordered a bronze cord cover and it's a very close match.

Pros: Great Illumination, Attractive Design, Quality Construction, Easy To Change Bulb, Easy To Install

Beautiful Lamp, Installation difficult
Mounting hardware included with lamp is ridiculously inadequate. Wall bracket uses slotted holes for mounting. When the weight of the glass shade is placed on it, or it is extended, the cantilevered weight will rotate the mounting plate.

Instructions are laughable. "No special tools required" "Step 1: Mount backing plate to wall." That's it for 'step 1.'

2 Hours later, bracket was redrilled and mounted to stud using newly purchased hardware. Don't even think of mounting using the included hardware. this is too heavy to mount in drywall only, and the included screws are too light and too soft to use.

It's a beautiful design, but the poor quality of the supporting components makes me question the quality of the shade and arms. Time will tell how it holds up.

Pros: Attractive Design

Cons: Tough To Assemble

Love them!
I ordered two as replacement reading lights for our bedroom. The lamps arrived in a matter of a few days. They look fantastic! I could not be more happy with the design, quality, and ease of installation. I just love how we can dim the lights for a mood changing effect in the bedroom.

I certainly, and most likely will order from Lamps Plus again.

Love the lamp, hate the switch placement
I love this lamp style, however, the only fault I have with it is where the lamp on/off switch is. It is located on the wall plate instead of on the lamp itself. We have to get up from our recliner to turn it on and off, instead of just extending the lamp out and turning it on just overhead. If we had to do it all over again we wouldn't have bought this particular light.

Pros: Great Illumination, Quality Construction, Attractive Design

Cons: Poor switch location

Best Uses: Decoration, Small Rooms, Large Rooms

The perfect bedside lamp!
We just installed two of these lights, flanking our bed. They are gorgeous and we have no problem at all with the dimmer...makes me think the earlier reviewer got a lemon. We love these because of their relative simplicity for a Tiffany-style lamp. We have Bradbury and Bradbury wallpaper border around our master bedroom, which is busy enough by itself, and while we knew we wanted Tiffany lights in there also, we were in danger of making the room too busy with the traditional, multi-hued Tiffany lights. The only drawback, as others have mentioned, is the fact that the switch is on the wall plate. Not only is it a pain having to get out of bed to turn them on or off, but the switch is located right next to the arm, so if you have the lamp arm craned toward the bed, as we do, only one person has the switch on the right side to be able to turn it on or off -- the other person has to swing out the arm out each time to get to the switch. Having said that, it's a relatively minor inconvenience for such beautiful lighting.
